Doc McStuffins, Peter Rabbit and the Magic School Bus made a flying visit to the IT Tralee on Tuesday as students studying the B.A. (Hons) in Animation, Visual Effects & Motion Design attended a guest lecture by Evelyn Moriarty, Recruitment Officer from Brown Bag Films.
Evelyn took the time to explore the skills this successful Oscar nominated studio seeks in animators, visual effect artists and creative media graduates when recruiting staff for their studios and offices worldwide. Brown Bag Films is one of the world’s most exciting, original and successful creative-led animation studios. With locations in Dublin, Toronto and Manchester and an office in LA, they are recognised worldwide for their cutting-edge animation techniques which are viewed daily by millions of children worldwide and include DocMcStuffins, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, HenryHugglemonster, Bing, Peg + Cat, Peter Rabbit, WildKratts, Olivia, Noddy in Toyland, The Magic SchoolBus: Rides Again, and Octonauts. Brown Bag Films has earned numerous awards and nominations including fourteen Emmy® Awards and two Oscar nominations.

The Institute of Technology, Tralee offers a pioneering B.A. (Hons) in Animation Visual Effects & Motion Design, which equips students with the skills required for the many employment opportunities in Ireland and abroad. Course content has been designed with extensive input from industry animators, in order to make sure graduates have the skills that employers need. Our degree is designed to foster creative talent in a technology-driven environment, enabling our students to design and develop animation content while working with the latest industry-standard software. Students get hands-on, practical, applied training, and an appreciation of relevant theories underpinning the evolution of animation, visual effects and motion design.
The IT Tralee Spring Open Day takes place this Saturday, 21st April from 11.00am-2.00pm. The day will be an opportunity for all those considering studying at the Institute to meet lecturers and current students and to ask any questions they may have. A number of workshops and taster events including a full Animation, Visual Effects and Motion Design programme taster will take place.
